Position Overview:

Mozaic is seeking a skilled and experienced Financial Manager to oversee all aspects of financial management and reporting for the organization. The Financial Manager will play a crucial role in ensuring the financial health and sustainability of Mozaic through effective budgeting, financial analysis, and compliance with regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and maintain financial policies, procedures, and internal controls to safeguard Mozaic’s assets and ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
  2. Prepare and manage the organization’s annual budget, including revenue projections, expense allocations, and cash flow forecasting, in collaboration with the executive team and program managers.
  3. Monitor and analyze financial performance against budget and forecasts, identifying variances and recommending corrective actions as needed to achieve financial objectives.
  4. Manage day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll processing, and financial reporting, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with GAAP and other accounting principles.
  5. Coordinate the annual financial audit and tax filing processes, liaising with external auditors, tax preparers, and regulatory agencies to ensure timely and accurate completion of required filings.
  6. Prepare financial reports and presentations for the executive team, board of directors, funders, and other stakeholders, providing insights and analysis to support strategic decision-making.
  7. Oversee grant and contract management, including budget development, financial reporting, and compliance monitoring, ensuring alignment with donor requirements and organizational goals.
  8. Provide leadership and guidance to finance staff, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the finance department.
  9. Stay informed of changes in accounting standards, tax laws, and nonprofit regulations, and recommend updates to policies and procedures as needed to maintain compliance and best practices.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) designation preferred.
  • Minimum of [2] years of experience in financial management, accounting, or nonprofit finance leadership role.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, budgeting techniques, and financial analysis methodologies.
  • Proficiency in accounting software like QuickBooks) and Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with colleagues at all levels of the organization.
  • Experience working in the nonprofit sector and familiarity with grant accounting and fund accounting principles preferred.
