About Mozaic: Mozaic is a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering refugee communities through comprehensive support services, including vocational training, financial literacy, career development, and more. We are seeking a proactive and organized Volunteer Coordinator to lead our volunteer program and ensure that our volunteers are effectively integrated into Mozaic’s mission.

Job Description:

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Volunteer Recruitment and Management:
    • Recruit, interview, and hire new volunteers to meet the needs of various Mozaic programs.
    • Create and manage volunteer teams, assigning tasks based on individual skills and interests.
    • Develop and maintain detailed volunteer records, including signed confidentiality agreements and ethics acknowledgments.
  2. Volunteer Training and Development:
    • Study and teach the volunteer ethics handbook, ensuring all volunteers understand and adhere to ethical guidelines.
    • Organize and conduct orientation sessions and ongoing training for volunteers to align them with Mozaic’s values and objectives.
    • Facilitate specialized training for volunteers engaged in specific areas, such as event planning, client support, or administrative tasks.
  3. Communication and Coordination:
    • Serve as the primary point of contact for volunteers, addressing their needs, concerns, and questions.
    • Develop and distribute clear and concise communication materials, including forms, schedules, and updates.
    • Organize regular meetings and create communication groups for specialized volunteers to foster collaboration and efficiency.
  4. Volunteer Engagement and Appreciation:
    • Plan and execute volunteer appreciation events to recognize and reward their contributions to Mozaic.
    • Develop and implement strategies to keep volunteers motivated and engaged with the organization’s mission.
    • Create and distribute community service slips, certificates, and other recognition materials.
  5. Performance Evaluation and Reporting:
    • Regularly assess the performance of volunteers, providing feedback and identifying areas for improvement.
    • Maintain accurate records of volunteer hours, contributions, and impact, creating detailed reports for internal and external use.
    • Ensure that volunteer activities are documented and reported according to Mozaic’s standards.
  6. Program Support and Development:
    • Collaborate with other Mozaic team members to identify volunteer needs and create new opportunities for involvement.
    • Assist in the planning and execution of Mozaic events, ensuring that volunteer support is well-coordinated and effective.
    • Evaluate and refine the volunteer program to enhance its effectiveness and impact on Mozaic’s mission.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; bachelor’s degree preferred but not required.
  • Experience in volunteer coordination, human resources, or nonprofit management.
  • Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Passion for community service and supporting refugee populations.
  • Proficiency in English; additional language skills are a plus.
