Mozaic October Newsletter

We have had a bustling and meaningful few weeks at Mozaic, filled with inspiring events and workshops. Here’s a glimpse of what’s been happening:

Girls’ Youth Club: Vision Building Workshop

We are thrilled to share that 21 girls, including participants from refugee families, joined our Vision Building Workshop in September. Led by Uzma Unus from Intentionally by Design and Soehira Sultan from Peaceful Coaching, the girls learned to set academic and personal goals, develop vision boards, and gain essential planning and time management skills. This workshop truly empowered them to approach the upcoming school year with confidence and clarity!

Financial Literacy Class with Sister Madiha

Families we have resettled took the opportunity to better understand the U.S. banking system at our Financial Literacy Class. Sister Madiha led a comprehensive session covering everything from using banking apps to budgeting wisely. Families also explored employment options and career pathways, ensuring that they have the knowledge to navigate financial challenges.

Syrian Forum at Mozaic

Mozaic had the honor of hosting the Syrian Forum, featuring a talk by Ghassan Hitto, who shared updates on the ongoing efforts to rebuild Syria. He highlighted incredible projects such as the construction of schools and workforce development programs. It was an inspiring session of hope and progress for the Syrian community.

Women’s Mawlid Celebration

We recently hosted a beautiful Mawlid gathering where 60 women came together to celebrate the life of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). The event included a special tribute to the ladies who performed Hajj this year and welcomed new hijabis into our community. We extend our heartfelt thanks to Ustadha Kouthar Muttardy for her uplifting talk encouraging many to take on the honor of being Ansar to the Muhajirin community, as well as our volunteers and nasheed performers who added so much warmth to the day.

14th Annual Kids Sira Workshop

This year’s Kids Sira Workshop brought together 45 children (ages 7-11) for a day of engaging lessons on the daily life of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). The event featured special father-daughter performances of songs about the Prophet. Each child received a booklet designed by Dana from Lulu and Jasmin, along with gifts and balloons. One of the highlights was welcoming a newly arrived refugee who joined us as a teacher!

Special thanks to everyone who contributed to the success of this event.

Classes Kick Off: Kids’ Sira Club & Morals and Manners for Youth

Our fall classes are in full swing! Both the Kids’ Sira Club and Morals and Manners for Youths have started this month. It’s wonderful to see our students diving into learning with enthusiasm.

Welcoming Our Third Refugee Family

Mozaic is excited to announce that we have welcomed our third family through the Refugee Placement Community Partner program with the IRC. The family is settling in well, receiving warm meals from the community. Last weekend our dedicated volunteers and team worked very hard to furnish their apartment and moved them into their new home. Thank you to the generous donors and dedicated volunteers for your support and warm welcome for this family of six.
